USAF P-51 B/C Revell 1/72 #04182

Bought this kit at a flea market sale really cheap, something like less than 2 euros. OOB camouflage and markings are fine but wanted to make an aluminium D-style bird instead. This model represents a USAF 118th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron North American P-51 B/C Mustang in China 1944 or 1945, found a nice reference photo of the original

No other modifications than the fuselage camera opening and tail number decals from Hasegawa civil 1/200 airliner kit. Painted with Revell enamels, final clearcoat semigloss Johnson/Future floor wax. Nice kit, nice model.

USAF F-100D Super Sabre 1/72 Italeri

Another Italeri winner, except that there are quite a few small errors which were found at a too late building stage. Worst is the canopy but that's Italeri's fault, not mine!

Decal placement was mostly guesswork as I built this model entirely without the kit instructions, they were missing between a first peek inside the box and starting to build the kit. (Am I having a some kind of trend here?)

Still, if you don't know exactly what a real Hun looks like, this model isn't too bad...

Model of a warbird P-51D featured in the motion picture "Tuskegee Airmen". The real Tuskegee planes didn't really look like this, but the actual movie plane did indeed.

USAF F-86H Sabre 'Hog' 1/72 Special Hobby

When I built this model the Sabre wasn't easy to find in 1/72 scale, all old kits were sold out and Hobby Boss etc. weren't available. The limited edition Special Hobby kit was surprisingly good with etched parts and acetate films.




Kit decals were usable too, quite thin and fragile but fortunately no major disasters this time.







No weathering or other modern rubbish, I like my models clean and shiny.






An earlier Sabre in 1/72 might be fun to build, but after that it would be enough Sabres for me?
